Below you can find the list of trainings available. The "top running speed" was estimated from winning times of Men Elite courses at OO.cup in each particular terrain.
Notranjska-Primorska region is rather big and for easier planning the trainings in this section are divided in 3 macro areas, according to accommodation that we offer - Nova Gorica area, Postojna area and Idrija area. Many of the trainings can be easily reached from all 3 centers, but are listed under the one to which they are closest. Below each training description you can also see the distances accommodation centers. |
NOVA GORICA AREA:

3 loops, map with no paths. Loops lengths: 1,72km, 1,89km, 0,68km. Alltogether 4,29 km. Top running speed 11min/km. A bit of extreme training after which some might reconsider if orienteering is the right sport for them :).

Long course. Many longer legs, the longest one is 1,6km. This course does not require so much fine navigation as other trainings in Mala Lazna area, but is more concentrated on route choices. 10,5km, easily shortened to required distance.

Middle distance. OO.cup and the World ranking event 2008., 4,1km, winning time of Petr Losman (CZE) 37:33. Can be shortened.

Course on map with no paths. 5,7km long version, the short version can be shortened. The course takes runners through the most interesting parts of the area. And through the way they must cope with just about any relief feature one can imagine. Ultimate contour training.

Middle distance course, 5,3 km. It is possible to use the map without the paths as well. Several route choices, fine navigation required in the area with many small contour features covered by evergreen vegetation. Top speed 7´/km.

4 downhill courses with total length of 2,9km (0,68-0,75km each). Vegetation varies from open/semiopen to green forest and the presence of rocks and boulders from zero to infinity. Fine navigation required all the time. Top speed 6´/km.

Long. Basic course of 6,5km may be reduced to a shorter one of 4km or extended to 8,8km. The last one crosses also the area of downhill sprints (Hubelj1). One long leg with very different route choices and many shorter through intricate contours and tough rocky area. Top speed 7,5-8´/km.

Combination of trainings. This training combines several types of training: contour map, line-O on different map types (normal, contour only, no paths) Basic course is 6km long and the shortened one 4km. Top speed 7´/km.

Middle. Middle course with butterflies. Middle course with several seperating controls (butterfly, forkings). May be used as a competition with the catching start based on some of the previous training´s results. Length of the course 5,5km, top speed 6´/km.

Translate terrain into line features. In karst areas it is often posible to simplify routes by navigating on long undistinct ridges or along the lines of depressions. This training consists of two parts. First the runners are forced to run on ridges by corridor, in second part they try to do what they learned in practice on normal course. 2,5km corridor + 3,5km normal course.
